Mikel Arteta has voiced fears that his team's pursuit for titles this season is being jeopardized by a concerning cycle of fitness setbacks and a relentless fixture list.

Fresh Team Update

Star player Declan Rice did not travel for the midweek trip to Belgium due to sickness. Meanwhile, attacker Leandro Trossard and defender William Saliba remain unavailable.

There was, on a brighter note, positive news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian striker added to their European squad. He comes in for the hurt youngster Max Dowman, who suffered an foot injury.

"Training, no because we don't have time to train. But clearly the fact that you are missing players, you are placing demands on other players more, there's a consequence to that and it's a really dangerous cycle."

Arteta dismissed the suggestion that training intensity were to culprit, pointing to a lack of time for drills. He emphasized the pressure on available players, some of whom have featured over 150 games in two seasons.

Transfer Strategy

Even after a significant summer spend exceeding £250 million, Arteta insisted the club is unlikely planning to dip into the January transfer market.

"At the moment we're just concentrating on getting the players back and hopefully it will be a matter of a short time," he said. "It's clear how crucial those coming weeks are going to be."

Looking Ahead

The team experienced their initial defeat in 18 games at the weekend, cutting their advantage at the summit of the league to two points.
