The UK is prepared to move forward with utilizing the total value of seized Russia's funds to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the move would be executed in close cooperation with the America.

United Kingdom restrictions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's resources since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, funds provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had exclusively been taken from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to drive progress toward using the full value of the frozen Russian sovereign assets to halt hostilities.

He added that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on Russia.

This statement is subsequent to EU representatives met in Copenhagen previously to debate utilizing frozen Russia's holdings for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged G7 allies to take or otherwise use frozen Russian assets, based on reports.

The value of seized Russian assets in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government carried out widespread bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, resulting in power cuts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, the city, and several other zones.

While applauding the Britain's strong support for Ukraine, he noted it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the program, as well as apply additional sanctions on Russia.
