Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
