Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, over half a second off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
