The winter recruitment period is always a period of feverish speculation and possible big-money moves. Several prominent players are being linked with moves away from their present teams. Here is a look at a selection of the top names who might be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the AFCON, this has kept the forward available, indications are an important transfer is close. This 25-year-old possesses a deal featuring a sizeable buy-out clause applicable for a short period at the start of the month. Latest developments suggest Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other interested parties such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have turned their attention to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to excel for Palace this season a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his contract due to expire in the summer, January is the London club's last chance to obtain a fee for their captain. This veteran German goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça following new coach Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January exit looks highly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

This much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. This 19-year-old is widely expected to complete a major move this month. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at approximately £22 million.
