The former Liverpool manager says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that a future comeback remains a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage another team within the country. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision later on, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to bring him back to management, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent thus frequently a very good mood in the building. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the notion that it might signal a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A profound tragedy for the entire squad too. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Unbearable.”
