The President Calls Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Tragic Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the press. “She was caring, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and cease providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi stated on the program that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
